Creating colorchange event using Creality Slicer:

Step 1:

When the model is ready, go to the dropdown menu Extensions > Post Processing > Modify G-Code as shown in the screenshot:

Step 2:

Click the "Add a script" dropdown menu and select "Filament Change" and you should see the options in the screenshot below. "Layer" dictates at which layer of the print the color change will occur. The rest need experimentation to avoid blobs/stringing or underextrusion with new filament during the change. Experiment with this before using on a final print, the values shown are examples and not ideal.

Step 3:

Now when you slice and export there should be a little notification with a tool logo meaning that the filament change script is active. Several scripts can be used for several color changes at different layers of the print if desired, simply use the"Add a script" dropdown menu again. Then the notification will tell you how many are active.

Filament Change Procedure (colorchange gcode, filament runout, etc):
Step 1:

Print as usual with first spool of filament.

Step 2:

Wait for the filament to run out, or manually trigger by quickly removing filament from printhead and runout sensor. If you are using gcode with colorchange, skip this step.

Step 3:

Printing should automatically pause and a message informing the user:

Tips

The filaments are running out. Please feed new filaments or stop printing.

accompanied by actions “Yes” and “Stop Printing” will appear onscreen. Do not press any yet!

Step 4

Remove the first filament spool and replace with a second filament spool. Feed the new filament through the runout sensor and fully into the printhead.

Step 5:

Now once the filament is ready, press the “Yes” button only once. The printer will heat up the hotend from the idle temperature of 170 °C to the original printing temperature (for this example 215°C). Now patiently wait for it to finish.

Step 6:

Once it detects that the hotend temperature is stable, a new message stating:

Tips

Filaments loaded. Continue or stop printing.”

along with a “Continue” button replacing the “Yes” button will appear. Now pressing “Continue” should continue the printing process where it left off, except now using the new filament.
