This is a guide on how to replace the Z-motors on the Artillery Sidewinder X3 Pro. In this example the left Z-motor is being replaced, but both Z-motors are attached in the same way. The required tools should be in the accessory kit that is packed along with every machine.

Procedure:


Step 1: Disconnect Gantry


Disconnect the 4 cables and remove the gantry, take care not to damage anything. (skip if it is not already assembled)


Step 2: Loosen and remove gantry


Undo the 4 screws holding the gantry under the base of the machine and then remove the gantry. Take care not to damage anything. (skip if it is not already assembled)



Step 3: Loosen Z screw coupler


Undo two screws to loosen the Z screw from the motor.


Step 4: Loosen and remove motor


Undo screws to loosen and remove the motor from the gantry.


Step 5: Loosen and remove motor bracket


Undo two screws to loosen the motor bracket from the motor.


Part 2: Re-installing new motor


Now the motor is completely removed. From here it is just doing the previous steps but in reverse.


Step 6: Attach motor bracket


Screw in two screws to attach the motor bracket to the new motor.


Step 7: Attach motor


Screw in two screws to attach the new motor to the gantry


Step 8: Tighten Z screw coupler

Screw in two screws to tighten the Z-screw to the new motor. The coupler needs to be as high above the motor as possible to avoid the coupler screws from hitting the bracket.


Step 9: Install gantry

Screw in four screws to tighten the gantry to the rest of the machine. Take care not to damage anything such as the cables.

Step 10: Reconnect cables

The gantry has two small cables, and Z-axis cables for each motor. Take care not to damage anything especially the smaller cables and connectors.
