Replacing Printhead a.k.a Extruder Cable - Creality V3 SE & KE

Tools Needed:

  • Phillips screwdriver (for some machines)

  • Allen Key (found in accessory bag with printer)

  • Flathead screwdriver (for terminal)

  • Clippers or Scissors (something to cut zip ties)

  • Anti-static wrist strap (recommended)

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Removing the Bottom Panel

  1. Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.

  2. Turn the printer on its side or upside down for easier access.

  3. Unscrew all screws securing the bottom panel.

  4. Carefully remove the bottom panel to expose the mainboard.

2. Replacing the extruder cable

  1. Unscrew the screws securing the mainboard to the frame.

  2. Gently remove the fan cable from the motherboard to fully be able to remove the bottom cover panel.

  3. Identify the extruder cable to the mainboard (widest cable and connector).

  4. Carefully cut any zipties securing the cable allowing for the cable to be released

  5. Remove the clip holding the extruder cable to the printhead and gently disengage the plastic latches on each side of the cable holding the connector down.

  6. Remove the old extruder cable and connect the new cable


Note: Take a picture of the path the original old cable takes inside the machine before removing to best replicate it with the new one

3. Reassembling the Printer

  1. Install the new cable and route it the way the old one was.

  2. Place the bottom panel back onto the printer.

  3. Secure it with screws.

  4. Plug in and power on the printer to test the new mainboard.


Note: Remember to reconnect the cable for the bottom fan to the mainboard once finished, otherwise the mainboard may overheat
